Do I need to complete my profile?
Yes, if you want to be hired by a Careseeker, you need to complete your profile. Once that is done, you will be matched with Careseekers looking for Caregivers. No more reply to job postings. Look for emails indicating a Careseeker or their Administrator wants to connect with you. That is the first step in getting a job.
How much should I charge for my services?
This is a difficult question to answer because it depends not only on your skill set but on the amount of care a Careseeker needs and where you live. Typically, if a Careseeker needs a companion / Caregiver, a rate of between $15 and $18 per hour is acceptable for 20 hours per week of care. If you are a CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) you can ask for between $18 and $25 per hour. What you have to understand is that if you are a great Caregiver, you may be able to ask and receive a higher hourly wage that an average Caregiver. In addition, you can also ask for a trip fee of $5 to $10 per visit to help offset the high cost of gas.
Can I search for jobs?
No, our service does not post jobs. Instead, we match you with Careseekers who can use your skills and services. If a Careseeker or their Administrator wants to connect with you, you can review that Careseeker’s profile and decide to connect or not.
How do I send messages?
When you log in, if you have any pending messages to be read, you will see an envelope with a number inside it at the top of the page indicating the number of how many new or unread messages you have. In order to send a message, either click on the envelope to list unread messages or go to the “Messages” link in your left-hand navigation menu. You will see an icon on the resultant page that says “Send a Message.” Just click that icon and a pop up message dialog box will be displayed. You can then create your message. Select whom you wish to send message to (you will see options below where you enter you message) in the dialog box.
How do I read and/or respond to messages?
If you have any pending messages to be read, you will see an envelope with a number inside it at the top right corner of the page. The number indicates how many new or unread messages you have. In order to read a message, click the Message icon (an envelope). You will then see a listing of your messages. Unread messages are highlighted. Just click on the message you are interested in viewing and a dialog box will open up displaying the message. You can reply to that message in that dialog box.
Can I work for more than one Careseeker?
Yes, you can work for as many Careseekers as you wish, and ask for a different hourly rate (which would be dependent on the services and care required, the day(s) of the week, and if it is a holiday or not). Of course, you cannot work for two Careseekers at the same time unless their accounts are “joined.” Note: You will have a background check requested by every Careseeker that hires you.
Why does the Caregiver have control to change past hours worked and not the Careseeker?
Keep Safe Care Direct knows that the majority of Careseekers will be fair to the domestic employees they hire for home care. In some cases, there are occasional discrepancies or oversights on hours worked. To rectify these occasional errors, Keep Safe Care Direct allows only the Caregivers to manipulate the schedule for hours they have worked to ensure fairness to both parties. Upon any changes, the Careseeker will have to confirm the changes as being accurate and has the authority to approve any changes.
Should I change my profile when I get hired?
This is a difficult question to answer because it depends on if you want to be matched with other Careseekers in your area. At a minimum, you might want to change your available hours on your profile once you have been hired and are satisfied with your job position.
